13 Mar CEOs: What’s Keeping You From Achieving Success?
CEOs: If you’re not achieving your idea of “success,” what’s stopping you?
This is a loaded question, because a lot of CEOs—more than you’d think—haven’t actually defined what success means to THEM. Not their competition, not their staff, not even others who have a stake in the business.
For example, are you hoping to grow your business to a point where you want to sell it? Make an acquisition? Go public? Spend less time working and more time enjoying life?
How can you actually make progress towards your objectives if you don’t have a firm grasp on the end goal? The simple answer is, you can’t.
The Problem Is…
Now, this is not placing blame on CEOs. There are endless factors that prevent CEOs from focusing on their true vision. I mean, just think of all the tasks CEOs encounter in their day-to-day. It’s not that they don’t have the vision, it just becomes clouded by all the problems that pop up and need to be dealt with for the company to survive. As I’ve written about previously, it’s the unfortunate reality of the “CEO curse.”
And many times, CEOs think this is just the way it “is.” They slog through day after day, frustrated with the way things are going but not knowing how to change it.
It doesn’t have to be that way. The role of a fractional COO can help immensely. You get all of the expertise for a fraction of the cost.
Open the Door to Unlimited Opportunities
What does fractional COO relief look like? For one, you won’t be bogged down with daily responsibilities that don’t belong under the CEO umbrella. That then frees up the time and brain space to focus on your innovative concepts. If your company is experiencing inefficiencies, the COO can identify them and put a stop to lost revenue.
Ultimately, when you can focus on building your business to its full potential—while someone else does some of the heavy lifting—the opportunities are unlimited.
